Barcelona cannot make a transfer for another year. But that does not mean that the club has not set its sights on another target.

And what a target to dream of. Paul Pogba is by most accounts the finest young midfielder and many project him to be among the finest in the world in just a few years. He has the tools to create, but he is terrific at recovering and more importantly, holding the ball.

"We know that Barca and other big clubs want him," said Juventus Director Pavel Nedved in an interview with El Mundo Deportivo newspaper. "But Pogba has a contract with us."

But that does not mean that teams will not be gunning for the star. Barcelona was supposedly vetting Neymar years before bringing him to the Camp Nou.

And despite Juventus' every desire to keep its ace on the team, especially with Andrea Pirlo likely retiring soon, money usually speaks loudly in World soccer.

If Barcelona were to grab him, it would be interesting to see where Pogba ultimately winds up in the midfield. He would certainly be a starter for the club. And if he was purchased, he would be arriving anywhere between winter and summer 2016. At that point one would have to wonder if he will take over Andres Iniesta's spot. The 30-year-old Spaniard is not the same player he was in 2012 when he was awarded for being the best player in Europe.

Pogba has played as a central midfielder for Juventus and has even been tasked with playing on the left, both of which he has occupied admirably.

Of course acquiring Pogba means that other Barcelona prospects, mainly Sergi Roberto or even Rafinha will see even less time than they currently have. They could grow into starting spots, but they are nowhere near Pogba at this point and there is no indication that they might ever reach that level.
