Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba faces a four-year suspension from soccer, revealed the Italian Anti-Doping Organization (NADO) on Thursday. The decision follows Pogba's failed drug test, marking a significant setback for the player and the club.
Manchester United is set to break the transfer record this summer with the acquisition of Paul Pogba from Juventus.
The French star is set to cost around $110 million, which would eclipse the $100 million that Real Madrid spent on Gareth Bale back in 2013.
Pogba of course has been hailed as a brilliant box-to-box midfielder capable of changing a game with his searing creativity and physicality. At just 23 years of age, he is still years away from his prime, which must be making mouths at United salivate. Throw in the fact that Pogba will be feeding the ball to Zlatan Ibrahimovic and you have a sure-fire win on your hands.
Or do they? Is Pogba really worth the record-breaking price that United is willing to pay for his services?
Manchester City seems ready to do everything it can to lure Pep Guardiola to the Etihad Stadium. How will it accomplish this feat? With a massive purchase of superstars that include Lionel Messi, Paul Pogba, Gerard Pique and David Alaba.
The Real Madrid and Juventus battle will feature two of the most impressive attacking sides in all of Europe. Both teams have renowned attacks as well as impressive midfields that will make this battle as close to evenly matched as it gets.
But which side has the edge?
This summer could be huge for Real Madrid. The team which is still the leader in Spain and could repeat the Champions League might have a completely different roster next season if transfer rumors are to be believed.
Last year, Franck Ribery was among the top three performers in the world and was seen as a contender to win the Ballon d'Or. Much to his dismay, that never occurred, but it represented a huge step for French soccer as the country had not seen a player given as much honor since the days of Zinedine Zidane.
Those days could be back in full force with Paul Pogba. The French midfielder is only 21 but is making waves with his first Ballon d'Or shortlist.
But has he accomplished enough in 2014 to win it all?
Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo, who is one goal away from tying Raul's record for most career in UEFA Champions League competition, failed to score on Tuesday but came away with a victory at home against English Premier League (EPL) club Liverpool while Juventus' Andrea Pirlo scored in his 100th UEFA Champions League appearance helping the Serie A champions get by Olympiakos with a 2-1 victory.
