Nina Dobrev Leaving 'Vampire Diaries': Kat Graham Says Dobrev Made Decision to Leave CW Show a 'Long, Long Time Ago'
"Vampire Diaries" co-star Kat Graham says she was not surprised when Nina Dobrev left the CW hit series.
According to TVLine, Graham says Dobrev's exit was a long time coming.
The co-star appeared on VH1's "Big Morning Buzz" Wednesday where she became the first from the show to publicly address the exit.
"It's very bittersweet," she admitted. "We're all family, and you always want to stay together forever, but everyone has their journey, and all you can do is wish them well and support them. This was a decision that I know was made a long, long time ago. I'm just excited for her, and to see what's next."
Graham promised that Season 6 of "Vampire Diaries" will go out with a bang in a "cool, epic battle."
Dobrev announced her official exit on Monday via Instagram after celebrating a goodbye party with her "TVD" family.
"I always knew I wanted Elena's story to be a six season adventure, and within those six years I got the journey of a lifetime," she wrote in a short letter to her co-stars. "There's more to come before we wrap this up, and I promise you'll get to hear all about my experiences over the next month as we approach the season finale."
Dobrev noted that she will have an exclusive interview with SELF Magazine for the June issue where she will reveal more details about her decision.
"Until then I invite you to hop on the roller coaster ride that is Elena Gilbert's life and join me as I celebrate her and prepare to say goodbye to her -- and to my work family -- as I move on to the next chapter of my life," she said.
Dobrev has grown in the past six years after making her debut on the vampire series. She tells fans that they don't know what's coming next but hints that they will soon find out.
