'Scandal' Cast & News: Scott Foley Reacts to Character's Death, But Is Jake Really Dead? [Watch]
The latest episode of "Scandal" set Twitter ablaze when the ending scene captured the murder of one of "Scandal's" lead male characters, Jake, played by Scott Foley, Huffington Post reports.
In the ending scene, which aired on Thursday, April 16 , Jake is stabbed several times by Olivia's hookup buddy, Russell (Brian White).
Viewers learn that Russell has been hired by Papa Pope to be Olivia's love interest and apparently kill Jake in the process.
"Scandal's" trailer for its upcoming episode confirms Jake's death and shows Olivia and her associates desperately searching for Jake's killer.
"Scandal" fans immediately flocked to Twitter to share their sadness over Jake's apparent death. Many even questioned whether Jake is actually dead.
However, Foley took to Twitter to confirm the news of his departure. Foley's "Scandal" co-star Joshua Malina also confirmed the news by tweeting a goodbye message to Foley.
Still, social media users aren't buying it. Even E! News published a story questioning the death of Jake and Foley's departure from the show. E! News notes that whenever a character is killed off from the show, there is usually an interview that follows where the actor confirms his or her exit. So far, Foley has yet to sit down for an interview.
E! News also observes that barely any of the "Scandal" cast members tweeted about Foley's departure. The "Scandal" cast members are known for live-tweeting during each episode, but none of them made a big deal about the death.
Following the controversial episode, "Scandal" star Kerry Washington tweeted that the show recently finished filming. The cast and crew of "Scandal" celebrated with a wrap party.
