Barbara Walters Most Fascinating Person 2013: Hillary Clinton Beats Out Edward Snowden, Miley Cyrus to Top List
Last night Barbara Walters had her 10 Most Fascinating People of 2013 special on ABC. Barbara has been hosting this end of the year show since 1993. This year her list consisted of Miley Cyrus, Jennifer Lawrence, Pope Francis, Robin Roberts, Kimye, Duck Dynasty Family, Edward Snowden, Prince George, Hillary Clinton and a recap of people who made the list in prior years.
To our surprise the most fascinating person of 2013 was not Edward Snowden (rumors say Barbara wanted him to be number one), the NSA worker who caused a world wide stir after he alleged that the U.S. government spies on its citizens through their own cell phones and computers. Even Miley Cyrus, with her legendary twerk moves, famous break up and top hits on the music charts, did not make the number one spot on Barbara's list either (she was also on TIME's 2013 list). Not even Pope Francis, who might just be the coolest pope the world has ever seen, made "numero uno". But the person who proved to be the most fascinating was the only and only superwoman, Hillary Clinton.
Hillary Clinton might not be in your tabloid stories everyday but her endless efforts to make the United States the great country that it was meant to be make her... well, fascinating. 2013 was actually the first year that Clinton was not actively working with the government, but this doesn't mean that she wasn't at home thinking of ways to better the world.
When Barbara asked Hillary if she is planning to run for president again, Clintoin said "It's such a difficult decision, and it's one that I'm not going to rush into ... and I don't think we should be looking at the next election." She continued: "I think we should be looking at the work that we have today. Our unemployment rate is too high. We have people getting kicked off food stamps who are in terrible economic straits. Small business is not getting credit, I could go on and on, so I think we ought to pay attention to what's happening right now." Whoa... an answer only Hillary Clinton could give.
The power house also added that she really doesn't know if she will actually be running for presidency again, after losing to President Barak Obama in 2008. If Hillary would run and became president, Barbara asked; "what would that make your husband (Former President Bill Clinton)?" Hillary answered laughing: "First mate, I don't know." Hillary, you make us women so proud. She is pretty fascinating, isn't she?
