The next Apple iPhone could be a significant upgrade to the current models, a well-respected analyst says, according to CNet.

Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst with KGI Securities who has released iPhone leaks in the past, says that the next iPhone – likely called the iPhone 6S – will be a significant upgrade from the iPhone 6.

If Apple releases another iPhone in 2015, it will probably come in September, which is when the company usually releases a new iPhone. The next iPhone is said to come with Force Touch, a feature that allows the screen to detect how much pressure is applied so that different functions can be performed.

Kuo says that Force Touch will not be the only feature added, though. He says that the processor will be upgraded from the Apple A8 to the A9, providing more speed and power. Kuo also says that RAM will be double from 1 GB to 2 GB. Finally, Kuo says that the camera will finally be upgraded from just 8 megapixels (MP) to 16 M. MacRumors believes it will be 12 MP

The Touch ID sensor, which is used as a fingerprint scanner to allow users to forgo password entry and to utilize Apple Pay for purchasing items at retailers, is expected to become more accurate. The body for the new iPhone is also expected to be stronger, preventing the bending of the device that the iPhone 6 Plus suffered from.

The final feature that Kuo says will be included is the inclusion of sapphire glass, but only in one version of the phone. This was a feature expected on the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus but, due to production issues, Apple went with Gorilla Glass. If Apple can solve these production issues, sapphire glass, which is stronger than Gorilla Glass, would be included in the "limited edition" of the iPhone 6S Plus.

Apple is feeling pressure from Samsung with their Galaxy S smartphones and other new Android phones. In the past, when Apple released an S version of the iPhone, it only included slight upgrades. Now, if Kuo is correct, the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus will have considerable upgrades from the iPhone 6.
