Grand Theft Auto V was 2013's most memorable video game and took the world by storm by breaking records, winning awards and just being an awesome game. Its online version is a unique experience as well, and recently Aaron Garbut, Rockstar North art director, spoke about the game's creation and its future.

From the beginning, Rockstar Games knew that GTA Online would be an important part of the franchise. According to Garbut, the online version of the game amplified the fun of having three different playable characters.

"With GTA Online planned as such a large part of the experience, and one which we knew we wanted to sustain, we really didn't have the luxury of focusing solely on the singleplayer journey," Garbut told Edge. "We had to ensure that the world as a whole was coherent and of consistent quality. We also knew we wanted to give the entire world a sense of life, and to encourage and reward the player for exploring."

GTA Online has not been without its share of complaints, however. Gamers have been voicing their opinions on Rockstar Games' Newswire blog, Reddit and other forums. These dedicated players will be happy to know that Rockstar Games takes these discussions into consideration.

"That's even more exciting these days, where through forums, Reddit, etc, we have a real direct connection to the people playing the game," Garbut said. "We can respond to what they are into and what they hate more than ever."

Rockstar Games plans on keeping the GTA Online updates and patches coming.

"What I love about our GTA Online plans is that the game is no longer static," Garbut said. "We can continue to add these things and evolve."

The game developer has stated that they will soon release an update to help prevent cheating.

"In regards to reports of hacking and cheating in Grand Theft Auto Online, we are working on a fix that will remove any GTA$ gained through these blatant exploits, as well as prevent this from happening in the future," Rockstar Games said in a blog post.
