'Scandal' Season 5 Spoilers: Huck May go to the Dark Side
The ABC hit political drama “Scandal” is out for the summer, which gives fans of the Kerry Washington-fronted show plenty of time to speculate on what is coming up for the cast of stressed out and scheming characters.
The fate of Huck, played by 40-year-old Latino actor Guillermo Díaz, is truly unknown.
As Season 4 came to its end, the troubled member of Oliva Pope’s crisis management team was being held at gunpoint. If he survives, there is absolutely no way to be sure that he will remain a loyal Gladiator. And there seems to a very good chance that he will join forces with Rowan (Joe Morton), since he is already used to taking orders from the covert badass.
Talking to TV Guide, Díaz appeared to reveal that this might be exactly what’s in store for his character, saying: "That is definitely an interesting possibility."
"I can see him turning to Rowan and embracing that dark side to him," said Diaz.
The actor, who has had guest appearances on such prime time favorites as “Law & Order” and “ER,” says that he would also love to see the now-unemployed Cyrus Beene (Jeff Perry) come on board to the dark side side too. But as fun as that sounds to watch, Diaz admits to being fairly certain that Cyrus will in fact come back to the White House, and for that matter First Lady Mellie Grant (Bellamy Young), who was just kicked out, will likely be back as well.
As a character, Huck is a bit of a mess, psychologically veering from dark to light. In a 2013 interview in Vulture, Diaz spoke of Huck’s problems.
“He's broken," he said. "He's emotionally crippled, but at the same time he's trying to change. We see him torture and kill people, yet we see him struggling with that. He cries over it and wants to be a different man, and I think that's what people love about him.”
