Orange is the New Black Season 2 Premiere and Cast News: How Will Vause and Chapman's Romance Play Out This Season?
Have you been watching "Orange is the New Black" lately? If not you sign into your Netflix account and get binging. Why all the rush? Well, according to Christian Today season two's release date is imminent. Christian Today reported that production on the second season wrapped last week. Many other media outlets previously reported that production on Season two started to wind down in mid January.
As of now, the New York City based show is well into the post-production process. Once the edit is finished and barring any unforeseen complications we should see the episodes posted online.
Now for those of you who are unfamiliar with OITNB you may have no idea what this show is about or why it's so hyped. Simply put the show is consistently good. It's always funny and sometimes sad. The plot revolves around a group of inmates at an Upstate New York women's prison. Alex Vause (Laura Prepon) and Piper Chapman (Taylor Schilling) are two of the main characters.
Vause and Chapman's on-again, off-again lesbian romance caused trouble all season long. Apart from being caught in sexy, comprising positions by their fellow inmates Chapman's fiancé Larry Bloom (Jason Biggs) found out about the affair. Thus Chapman's engagement status at the end of season one is uncertain. But until season two debuts we won't know what happens for certain.
Vause's and Chapman's future as a possible couple was also up in the air until recently. Various rumors pegged Prepon's character as having a minuscule role in season two. Luckily series creator Jenji Kohan cleared up any confusion when asked by Us.
"Yes, yes, she is coming back," Kohan told Us during the Writers Guild Awards on Saturday, Feb. 1. "Not the whole season, but...you'll see her for most of it."
Prepon confirmed the good news as well.
"I'm definitely coming back for Season 2," she said. "I know there's a lot floating around, but I can't wait to get back there. It's exciting."
Nevertheless, the show will feel slightly different in season two.
"It's becoming much more of an ensemble," Kohan said. "As much as I love Piper and Taylor and her journey, I think people are interested in everybody's journey."
