Microsoft Surface Pro 4 Update: Lenovo Miix 700 Released to Rival Microsoft's New Phablet?
Microsoft Surface Pro 4 is one of the season's hottest releases. Touted to be even better than the critically acclaimed Surface Pro 3, the fourth edition is expected to take the market by storm with its versatility and performance. But is there something better out there?
The Surface Pro 4 will reportedly come in two sizes, a 12-inch model and a 14-inch one that caters to those who need a bigger screen for business and entertainment, according to The Cubic Lane. It features the latest Intel chip Skylake, designed to be used fanless, so the devices are lighter and cooler than the previous models. Among other upgrades are better battery life, a Type-C USB port and a Windows 10 operating system.
While Microsoft's newest Surface Pro seems unbeatable, recent reports have speculated that another device is set to overtake it.
A report from PC Mag called the Lenovo Miix 700 "like a Microsoft Surface but better." It's a bold statement, but there are enough similarities between the two devices for them to be comparable. Both are tablet and laptop hybrids that feature magnetic keyboards and hinged kickstands at the back.
The similar aesthetic might be off-putting to some people in the beginning, but Lenovo turned up the notch to deliver a gadget that's able to stand on its own two feet.
While it looks to be around the same size at 12 inches, the Miix 700 features a higher resolution screen at 2160 x 1440, plus a confirmed speedy processor with Intel Skylake Core M7. It also has an optional Intel RealSense rear camera for 3D scanning and facial recognition log-in capabilities. Storage capacities are impressive as well with up to 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of SSD, according to Tech Times. Other features include a Windows 10 OS and five-megapixel front and rear cameras.
It's a compelling buy that's at the top of the Lenovo lineup. The official release of Miix 700 on the company's website described it as a tool "opening the door for new and disruptive ways to work and play with seamless transition between laptop, stand and tablet mode - ideal for those who value stylish and progressive design."
Microsoft will reportedly be unveiling the Surface Pro 4 on October alongside a rumored Surface Phone, two Lumia mobile phones and the Microsoft Band.
The Lenovo Miix 700 will be released in the market in November. Retail price starts at $699. Other new Lenovo products that will be making waves in the community include an Ideacentre AIO, an Ideapad 300, an Ideapad 500, an Ideapad 100S, an Ideapad 300S and an Ideapad 500S.
