On Oct. 17, Miss Bumbum's youngest contestant, Fernanda Paulino, attempted suicide after learning that she didn't make the final 15 of the competition.

According to Daily Mail, Paulino, 21, was devastated to learn that she was not one of the 15 contestants that would be moving on to the next stage of the popular Brazilian beauty pageant.

The Mato Grosso representative was reportedly found barely conscious in her home, a few days after she was told she didn't make the final 15 on Oct. 15.

Paulino, who has been discharged from the Sao Luiz hospital and is recovering from the incident, revealed she behaved on impulse and did the first thing she could think of after getting the cut from the competition.

"My parents weren't at home and I was alone. I lost grip of myself, I was crying a lot. It was always my dream to take part and win this competition. I went straight to the medicine cupboard and took all the strongest tablets," Paulino said.

Miss Bumbum organizers released a statement and expressed their support for Paulino, her family and their grief over the incident.

"She saw winning Miss Bumbum as her only chance at becoming famous. Being left out of the final was the end of the world for her," Miss Bumbum producer Felipe Almeida said. "She did everything she could to win, she put in more effort than any of the other girls. When she discovered she hadn't made it, desperation took over."

Back in August, Paulino was a lot more confident and focused on making sure that the competition wasn't her only focus. The veterinary student revealed that becoming a successful veterinarian was also a dream of hers besides winning the competition, reported Brazilian website Globo.

"I really like animals. I have two dogs, a cat and a parrot at home," she said. "I have the profile and despite my age, I can win. I want that title! I want to graduate, working in the area, but want to be one of the beauties of the country."

This isn't the firs time a Miss Bumbum contestant has to fight for her life due to the competition. The 2012 runner-up Andressa Urach was sent into septic shock from an infection on her thighs due to the implant shots she took to plump her derriere.
