Fifth Harmony Members, Meghan Trainor Collaboration: 'Worth It' Singers to Work on Sophmore Album
Meghan Trainor confirmed in a new podcast that she is in fact working with Fifth Harmony on their upcoming second album.
In a Nov. 3 Pop Shop podcast by Billboard, the singer revealed that she is writing new music for the pop group's sophomore musical effort.
This isn't the first time that the "Like I'm Gonna Lose You" singer works with the group. For their first album, "Reflection," Trainor wrote "Sledgehammer," a song that didn't make it on her debut album, and "Brave Honest Beautiful."
According to Trainor, the song is called "Tinderella," and she called the song too "hardcore" for her musical style but perfect for Fifth Harmony. While she wrote it for the group, it's not a definite that the song will make it on the album.
In a recent interview with Spin magazine, group member Dinah Jane Hansen spoke about Fifth Harmony's new album and revealed that it is far more mature than their previous.
"It's a side of Fifth Harmony that no one's really seen. In the beginning, we were super happy. Our first album was very jumpy. This time, we're showing who Fifth Harmony really is behind closed doors," she said.
She later added, "We're writing [about] our own experiences about love and everything, stuff that's actually what's going on right now. We're all 18, 19, 22, so a lot is going on in our lives. ... We've all experienced breakups and love this year. I feel like sometimes we just need to speak more about what we're going through."
Hansen also revealed other possible collaborations to add to their new mature sound and content with possible features from Big Sean, J. Cole, Travi$ Scott and Nicki Minaj.
"For one of the Max Martin songs we finished, we could totally hear her on this one part," Hansen said about possibly working with Minaj.
The new songs will also be featuring bit more of an urban vibe that pays homage to the group's cultural diversity.
"We just have smashes, one after the other," Hansen said. "This lane we're going with is kind of reggae-rhythmic and kind of urban. It finally includes our ethnicity -- I'm Polynesian. We have a black girl. We've got Hispanics. We kind of got that island in us, that little flavor in there. We love including that because that's what we are."
