‘Supernatural’ Season 11 News: Jensen Ackles Reveals Ties to Amara Might Cost Them [Watch]
Although the Winchesters are back in Season 11 finally as normal brothers on the hunt, it is now apparent they have a new tie to the Darkness that could put them in danger for the endgame this season.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Jensen Ackles (Dean Winchester) spoke about what they are up against with Amara and the Darkness, which includes Dean's personal connection to her.
Although Dean has been known to sacrifice his own for the greater good, what currently ties him to Amara might outweigh his ultimate plan to destroy or contain the Darkness.
"There's obviously that connection [between Amara and Dean]," Ackles told ET. "But what it all means, and how it's all going to tie into his destiny and his future, and what that means for the brothers, is something he's very nervous about."
He also spoke about Dean hiding those nerves and keeping them under wraps at the moment, but when it comes right down to the fight ahead of him, he is going to "flesh" them out a little bit.
There is something unique about this season that fans have not seen in a long time. Over the past several years, their fight has been to either save one another from some gigantic evil, or to save themselves from themselves.
"One of the great things about Season 11 is they're essentially not afflicted with anything," Ackles said.
"They're both intact -- granted they're scared and bruised from a life of hunting and fighting -- but they're not fighting for each other anymore, they're fighting a common target. They're fighting alongside each other and it's been a while since we've seen that."
Essentially, what he described was a reboot of sorts. It's almost like they are back in Season 1 just starting their long journey of fighting evil on the road. Living from town-to-town and taking down the monsters in every corner of the country.
