'Metal Gear Solid 5' Patch Brings 'Quiet' Back to the Game
A popular character is set to make a comeback in the "Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain," the expert spy Quiet.
It was a Reddit user called "Brotigan" who revealed the special treat from developer Konami, who included it in the game's latest patch. The "Phantom Pain" fan posted the new feature on the "Metal Gear Solid" thread, telling his fellow players to replay the "Cloaked in Silence" mission seven times to bring back the character.
Replaying a single mission seven times is not something many players would do, so the news came as a pleasant surprise to much of the fanbase.
According to a report from GameRant, Quiet is the sniper who had become unavailable for players who were unable to complete the game's very specific requirements. Her exit came as a surprise for many fans as she's a series favorite, but, now, everyone would be able to enjoy Quiet again.
While facing fierce competition throughout the season, "Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain" has performed well for Konami. A report from IGN revealed that the company's latest financial report showed that they have shipped five million units worldwide during its launch in September.
According to a report from GameRadar, "Phantom Pain" is also the best-selling installment of the entire series.
More "Metal Gear Solid" features are set to be unveiled in the next update within the month of November. Konami revealed their plans on the official website, including a revamped user interface, new Grade 8 weapons and equipment, additional security devices and more. A detailed rundown of all the upcoming additions and expansions may be seen om the Konami's website.
Despite the overwhelming success of the latest game, publisher Konami has found time to give back to some of the long-time fans of "Metal Gear Solid". GameSpot reported that the company announced "The Phantom Limb Project," which has Konami working with Sophie De Oliveira Barata and her team of engineers, roboticists and product designers to create a special prosthetic limb for 25-year-old gamer James Young.
Young, a double amputee, learned to play games one-handed after losing an arm and leg in an accident. A fan of the "Metal Gear Solid" franchise, he's set to be given a prosthetic arm inspired by Snake's own in "The Phantom Pain" game.
"Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain" is currently available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
