Rick Castle (Nathan Fillion) and Kate Beckett (Stana Katic) have agreed they should keep up appearances moving forward in Season 8 of "Castle," which will continue after a two-month break.

After their reunion in Episode 8, titled "Mr. and Mrs. Castle," the wayward pair have decided to remain split up in the public eye, while privately reconciling their barely year-old marriage.

Showrunners Alexi Hawley and Terence Paul Winter recently shared with TVLine that if they had more time in the season, they may have elected to have Rick remain angry and agitated with his wife for walking out on him a bit longer. But the nature of network TV necessitated that they move on from the subplot more quickly.

"Yeah, we probably would have," Hawley said of including more scenes with Castle angry and the couple estranged. "It was very important that he had a moment when she comes to him in the loft where he didn't just say yes, because she did hurt him."

But all now seems forgiven between the two, so much so that there are rumblings Beckett could soon find herself expecting the couple's first child.

In the "Mr. and Mrs. Castle" episode, the couple sealed the deal in committing to their union. Kate admitted to her husband that she was wrong to leave him over her work on the LokSat investigation. Worried where her increasingly dangerous probe might be taking her, the NYPD police captain did so in a convoluted effort to protect her husband.

"You like being broken," Rick scolded his wife, before quickly giving in to her charms. He essentially admitted to her that he didn't know how he could carry on much longer without her.

The show will now embark on a two-month hiatus and return to ABC on Feb. 1 at 10 p.m. ET.
