Director Phil Coulson and Leo Fitz are in danger in "Maveth," the 10th episode of "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." Season 3. The Marvel Television and ABC Network-produced series has released a synopsis for the winter finale episode, Comic Book noted.

The plot reads:

"Coulson (Clark Gregg) reaches his breaking point! S.H.I.E.L.D. and Hydra go head-to-head in a battle that will change Coulson's world forever. While Daisy (Chloe Bennet) and her team of Inhumans fight to keep Hydra at bay, Coulson and Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) take the ultimate risk."

In the previous episode titled "Closure," Fitz and Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) were kidnapped by HYDRA so that they could get more information about opening the portal, IGN noted. Simmons was determined to sacrifice her life so that HYDRA would not get what they wanted to complete a dark mission, which was to extract a powerful Inhuman. However, Fitz decided to share the vital information to stop HYDRA from hurting her.

Gideon Malick (Powers Boothe) told Grant Ward (Brett Dalton) in "Many Heads, One Tale" that the powerful Inhuman from the other side would be their ace against Coulson's team to rule the world, Comic Vine noted. With Ward's vow to make S.H.I.E.l.D. pay for his failed relationships, he is willing to do anything to make it happen.

Thus, in the next episode, Ward will accompany Fish along with the other members of HYDRA to get the powerful Inhuman.

ABC released a clip showing Coulson, Fitz and Ward roaming the other dimension where Simmons was transported last season via the Kree monolith.

A sneak preview of "Maveth" shows Simmons pointing out a miscalculation on when the portal will reopen again. She also learns that HYDRA intends to leave Fitz behind in this deadly mission.

Meanwhile, S.H.I.E.L.D.'s other agents are also actively monitoring the HYDRA mission. Coulson may have decided to stop HYDRA from extracting the powerful creature from the other world because it is sure to create havoc on Earth.

However, Coulson should also focus for him and Fitz to stay alive even if HYDRA wants them to be trapped there. Daisy and the rest of the team could still manage to free and save them, just like what they did to Simmons. However, with Ward also with them, it will be a challenging task.
