Netflix has released the trailer for "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny," a followup to Ang Lee's original 2000 hit film

It has been 15 years since Lee directed the Oscar-winning "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon." Now the film franchise is back, this time on Netflix.

According to Deadline, the original film was a hit with fans across the world, and it went on to win an Oscar. The unique blend of martial arts and death defying choreography, mixed in with legendary special effects and an outstanding story, made the original an instant success. But as evidenced in the trailer, the new film has raised the bar and seeks to reach epic new heights.

This film will be a Netflix exclusive, and it is sure to attract an audience in the millions to the streaming platform.

It will also feature the return of Michelle Yeoh, who will reprise her role as Yu Shu-Lien from the first film.

In the sequel, Shu-Lien is tasked with the harrowing job of protecting the legendary Green Destiny Sword. When an evil warlord seeks to possess the sword at any cost, violence breaks out, leading to battles featuring extreme choreography and grace, just as in the first film.

The film also stars Donnie Yen ("IP Man"), Harry Shum Jr. ("Glee"), Jason Scott Lee ("Hawaii Five-O"), Roger Yuan ("Bulletproof Monk"), Eugenia Yuan ("Revenge of the Green Dragons") and Natasha Liu Bordizzo.

This film will be directed by the famed martial arts choreographer Yuen Wo-Ping, whose own credits include "The Matrix" trilogy, both "Kill Bill" films and "Tai Chi Master."

This installment in the franchise will be based on the book "Iron Knight, Silver Vase" by Wang Dulu. It was written for the screen by John Fusco ("Marco Polo") and produced by Harvey Weinstein, Peter Berg and Sarah Aubrey.

On top of the Netflix platform release, the film will also get an IMAX theatrical release, both coming on Feb. 26, 2016.
