Carlos Santana hospitalized after serious illness during soundcheck in Texas
The Mexican-American artist felt ill and was taken to the hospital.

Virtuoso Latin composer and guitarist Carlos Santana spent the night in the hospital after feeling ill during a sound check before a concert in Texas. The 77-year-old artist is in the middle of a U.S. tour.
This is the second time this year that the legendary Mexican-American artist has been forced to cancel his professional commitments due to health issues. The first time was in January, when he changed his plans to hold a musical residency in Las Vegas due to a fractured finger.
"I regret to say that Carlos was taking a walk at his vacation home in Kauai. He suffered a nasty fall and fractured the pinky finger on his left hand," his representative, Michael Vrionis, said at the time.
"He had to have pins inserted into his finger. Unfortunately, he won't be able to play the guitar for approximately six weeks. However, doctors assure him he will make a full recovery," he added. He was right, as the artist had begun a new tour this week in Albuquerque.
The cause of this incident, which occurred in the city of San Antonio, the second stop on this tour, was another. According to witnesses, Santana was taken from the theater by ambulance and taken to a nearby hospital.
In a statement, Vrionis explained:
"Mr. Santana was at the [Majestic Theater in San Antonio] preparing for tonight's show when he suffered an episode that was determined to be dehydration."
"Out of an abundance of caution and for Mr. Santana's health, the decision was made to postpone the show, which was the most sensible decision. He is doing well and looks forward to returning to San Antonio soon, as well as continuing his U.S. tour."
"Thank you all very much for your understanding. The show will be rescheduled soon."
Carlos Santana's projects
The artist released his new album, "Sentient," in March, featuring 11 songs and a mission to "inspire being in the present." It's a compilation of some of his favorite musical works, including works with Miles Davis and Michael Jackson, among other iconic productions.
