An update for Samsung Galaxy A8 is now available via an official stock firmware release. The latest firmware update offers security improvements and more.

Team Android noted that Samsung Galaxy A8 is the only model from the A series that is running on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. Though the latest official firmware released, carrying build number XXU1AOK6, does not offer Google's Android Marshmallow goodies, Galaxy A8 users can expect improvements and security patches for Android Lollipop.

Since it is an official Samsung Galaxy A8 firmware, it is necessary for users to get the update to make the phone up-to-date and free from security vulnerabilities and glitches. Those who wish to install Android 5.1.1 Lollipop XXU1AOK6 firmware on their Samsung Galaxy A8 can do it automatically via Over-The-Air (OTA) update.

Another possible method to proceed with the official update process is using the desktop tool called Samsung KIES. Using this method will not necessarily require handset owners to make a backup of the files stored on the smartphone.

Team Android also noted that the recently-released firmware is entirely unbranded. Thus, users should not have pre-installed apps or extra language packs. For those who wish to install the official Android 5.1.1 Lollipop stock firmware update on Samsung Galaxy A8, visit the Team Android's post linked above.
