'Avengers: Infinity Wars' Rumors, Casting: Could Netflix's Jessica Jones Appear in New Movie?
The new "Jessica Jones" series on Netflix has been a huge hit, and there has already been some speculation as to whether the Marvel heroine could join the cinematic universe in the upcoming "Avengers: Infinity War."
Slated to be the biggest film in the comic book cinematic universe, it is possible that the movie could feature every possible hero in the canon, all suiting up for the big one.
However, that theory looks a bit tenuous at the moment, as noted by co-director Anthony Russo. The director, who works alongside his brother Joseph, recently chimed in on the question of whether a defender like Jessica Jones could find herself sharing the screen with Iron Man.
Russo said that, while it is possible Jones could appear, it would be complex to integrate the two types of Marvel heroes. He is quick to note that the current work on the Marvel shows and the movies seem to move in different spheres and wave lengths. He then pointed out that Fox and Sony hold the rights to some of Marvel's biggest properties.
"Then there is the possibility of a crossover, but it's more complicated. It is a smaller scale version of the problem that exists when remembering that Fox holds the rights to some of Marvel's most popular characters, as does Sony and others," he revealed, according to Collider. "As storytellers, we only have control over what happens in Marvel movies, but everything is possible, Spider-Man became possible!"
It is not a surprising comment, when one notes that the Guardians of the Galaxy, who very much share the same universe as the Avengers, could potentially miss out on the epic film as well, according to MTV.
The two "Avengers" movies that will together makeup "Infinity Wars" are still years away, with the first installment due out in summer 2018 and the followup slated to hit theaters exactly a year later.
