Apple Breaking News: New Apple Watch Expected at March Event
Apple is planning an event in March, where they are expected to announce a new Apple Watch model.
CNBC reports that the upcoming event would probably result in the new Apple Watch models shipping in April. The news comes via 9to5Mac, which gathered information from sources with knowledge of Apple's plans.
Apple has been working on features for future Apple Watch models since before the first iteration was released this past April. The company has been working on a new camera, wireless Internet without a nearby iPhone, sleep tracking and health sensors for the next device in the line. It is unknown if these features will be included in the next Apple Watch.
Apple's latest update to the Apple Watch was in September, when new colors, bands and a software update were introduced.
At the March event, the company could also unveil a new 4-inch iPhone, likely called the iPhone 6c. The 6c will likely be a cheaper version of the iPhone 6 with similar performance. The device is expected to use the same A9 processor that is used in the iPhone 6, only with the smaller 4-inch screen.
Some customers are missing the old iPhones with 4-inch screens. They say these are easier to hold in one hand. In 2014, Apple increased the screen size of their iPhones to 4.7 inches and 5.5 inches. The only iPhones that have the 4-inch screens are the iPhone 5, the iPhone 5c and the iPhone 5s. Of these, only the iPhone 5s can still be purchased today.
Last year, Apple used a March event to introduce the Apple Watch and the new 12-inch MacBook.
For the next Apple Watch, many customers hope that battery life is increased. The original Apple Watch can only go approximately one day before needing a charge. Other smart watches are capable of going several days without a charge. Additionally, some customers hope the next Apple Watch will come with some water resistance features so it can be taken in the shower or the swimming pool.
