WWE Rumors: 'The New Day' to Receive a Huge Push From Management?
WWE Tag Team champion The New Day is the most entertaining act in the WWE right now. The trio of Xavier Woods, Kofi Kingston and Big E. are featured on television in a regular basis, and according to several reports, WWE management is looking to give them a much bigger push.
Wrestling Inc. reported that WWE is very happy with the merchandise sales of The New Day. The group's shirts and socks are doing so well that the company have released a bunch of new merchandise, one of which are the unicorn horns worn by the trio during a segment on this week's Monday Night RAW.
Kingston noted on his Twitter account that the unicorn horns sold out in just five hours. Even Woods' "UpUpDownDown" and Austin Creed T-shirts and items based on his YouTube channel are also said to be a hot commodity right now.
The WWE is known to reward superstars who sell a lot of merchandise in the past years as seen with Hulk Hogan, "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, The Rock, Rey Mysterio and John Cena. The push is already evident as The New Day is having more segments in the past few weeks that are typically given to main eventers and WWE World heavyweight champions, per Inquisitr.
The New Day have already been thrown with Seth Rollins and Sheamus but showed that they have chemistry. The trio also worked with Team B.A.D this past week to help Sasha Banks, Naomi and Tamina get over casual WWE fans.
It is great to see The New Day get a huge push because they deserve it after not being well-received by fans when they were first put together last year and WWE thinking of abandoning the gimmick. Woods, Kingston and Big E remained patient. They were always the smiling, laughing and annoying trio that fans would love to hate because of their silliness, as reported by Bleacher Report.
"I get a lot of people's lack of optimism at first. When we were first met with the idea, we looked at each other and wondered how we were going to make this work. I think the biggest takeaway is being patient," Big E said in a recent interview with Brain Fritz of Sporting News.
"I think often times it's just a matter of being patient with an act; letting it evolve, letting it grow and seeing what it becomes. We were glad we were given enough time to make it work," he added.
