Houston Rockets vs Washington Wizards: Preview, TV Schedule & Where to Watch
James Harden and the Houston Rockets are looking for their fourth win in five games when they visit John Wall, Bradley Beal and the rest of the Washington Wizards at the Verizon Center on Wednesday night. It is the first of two meetings between the two teams this season after splitting the season series last year.
The Rockets are coming off a 105-100 loss on Tuesday, where they got swept in their season series against the Brooklyn Nets for the first time since the 2000-2001 season. Marcus Thornton led Houston with 32 points, six rebounds and three assists off the bench in just 26 minutes of play.
Harden scored a season-low of 10 points with three rebounds and nine assists while taking only nine shot attempts. He also had seven of the season-high 24 turnovers of the Rockets.
"Just poor decision-making, especially on my end. Had too many unforced turnovers, just giving them opportunities," Harden said after the game. Dwight Howard also had a mediocre game with 10 points, nine rebounds and two blocks while Corey Brewer also came off the bench and scored 22 points.
"We should've come out with a better effort. We didn't and we paid the price for it," Howard said. The Rockets were coming off a three-game winning streak before the loss against Brooklyn.
On the other hand, the Wizards are coming off a 114-103 win against the Miami Heat on Monday. Wall returned to the game after being carried last Sunday in the loss against the Dallas Mavericks with an apparent knee injury. He looked healthy versus Miami, scoring 26 points and dishing seven assists.
"I'm probably one of the toughest people you'll see. I'm a competitor. I can't say if it wasn't broke I wouldn't play because I did that before, but it was just a time that we really want to play well," Wall told the media after the game.
Beal and Neal both added 21 points while Otto Porter had a double-double with 13 points and 14 rebounds. The Wizards are looking for their first back-to-back wins since Nov. 21 when they were in a three-game winning streak.
Marcin Gortat is expected to be back for Washington after missing the past three games due to a family emergency in Poland. Howard may be rested by Houston as it is the second game of back-to-back games while Trevor Ariza is questionable due to a hard fall in the first quarter of the game against the Nets.
Tip-off starts at 7 p.m. ET and is available via the NBA League Pass while it will be broadcasted locally on CSN and ROOT.
