After terrorizing his native Colombia twenty years ago, a new television series will bring the man and his gang to the world's audience. With the success of series created and streamed on Netflix, the online streaming website continues to expand its television series line up with this new series.

The new series, titled Narcos, will debut in 2015, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The new series will be part of that years line up, which already includes a third season of the popular show House of Cards as well as another new show, Grace and Frankie, starring Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin.

Focused on the infamous Colombian drug kingpin Pablo Escobar and his notorious Medellin Cartel, the series will bring those times of violence and corruption to life again and will focus also on the United States' role during this time period. Taking on the challenge is Brazilian director Jose Padilha, along with Gaumont International Television, will be in charge of the show with fellow Brazilian Wagner Moura playing Escobar.

Padilha, according to The Huffington Post, has already had experienced with crime-related roles, having starred in the Brazilian films Elite Squad (2007) and Elite Squad: The Enemy Within (2010), as well as the reboot of Robocop.

"Jose and Wagner together created one of the most sophisticated and chilling portraits of criminality and official corruption ever in their 'Elite Squad' movies," said Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos in a statement. "Their version of the Escobar saga will be like nothing ever seen before."

The series has already begun filming in Colombia. "Our idea is to tell the true story of how cocaine became such a huge problem in the U.S. and Europe -- and how it all started here in Medellin," added Padilha, now preparing Narcos in Colombia.
