America Ferrera took part in the 2016 Golden Globe nominations announcement on Thursday, but she was confused with fellow Latina Gina Rodriguez on social media.

According to NBC News, Ferrera was confused with the "Jane the Virgin" star when a photo of Ferrera, standing in front of the podium announcing this year's nominees, was shared by the Golden Globes' Twitter account.

However, instead of using Ferrera''s Twitter handle, the Golden Globes account tagged Rodriguez.

"@HereIsGina is kicking off the @goldenglobes nominations announcements," the tweet read.

The Tweet was quickly deleted, but not before Twitter users could react and point out the mistake, some suggesting the confusion happened because they are both Latinas.

According to one Twitter user, who also happens to work for NBC, the slipup may have also happened at the event as well.

"Pretty sure someone at #GoldenGlobes announcement just called America Ferrera Gina Rodriguez," Jillian Sederholm wrote.

Rodriguez and Ferrera have yet to address the mix-up. Instead, Rodriguez has been busy celebrating her second Best Actress nomination for playing Jane Villanueva on "Jane The Virgin."

She took to Twitter to say thank you for the nomination. This year, the 31-year-old actress is the only Latina up for a 2016 Golden Globe.

Ferrera, although not nominated this year, has a Golden Globe win on her resume as well. In 2007, the Honduran-American actress won Best Actress for playing Betty Suarez in popular comedy "Ugly Betty."

Both Ferrera and Rodriguez have helped progress the image of Latinas on television by challenging stereotypes through there roles, public personas and support for the Latino community.

Meanwhile, Ferrera has been promoting her role in NBC's new series "Superstore," where she plays a strong minded Latina, while Rodriguez is currently starring in the Season 2 of "Jane The Virgin."
