First of all, fans are now assured that there will be a Final Fantasy VII Remake coming soon. What everyone didn't expect is the announcement that the game will be released in multiple parts.

According to a post on the Square Enix Blog, producer Yoshinori Kitase explains why the remake is receiving such treatment. Apparently, Kitase wanted the original Final Fantasy VII game to be expanded and receive more content in order for players and new gamers to enjoy it. He also hinted that if ever the Final Fantasy 7 Remake is going to make it, it will not be a one-time release. The company took so long to decide and finalize its remake because of the "massive undertaking" that needed to be developed from the ground up.

Expect the Final Fantasy 7 Remake to be more complex and extended as envisioned by producer Kitase. He said, "With FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE, we have the opportunity to go beyond the story, world and experience of FINAL FANTASY VII in ways we've always dreamed of -- from the depths of Midgar to the skies above the Planet."

During the PlayStation Experience event, Square Enix surprised their fans by releasing the first gameplay footage of the said game. The developer was not disappointed when they saw the excitement from their fans, saying that it was more of a treat for them knowing that the development of the game did well. They also added, "Just like when we revealed the announcement trailer at E3 earlier this year, we like surprising you."

According to GamesRadar, although fans were thrilled of the announcement, they were a bit apprehensive on why such game will have to be delivered in portions. The blog has a response to that, saying that because of the massive content of the Final Fantasy VII Remake, the developer is forced to put it on a multi-part series. They also said that while it was possible to fit it all into one, they may just have to do it with a condensed style, which they know the fans will greatly object. Kitase hopes that by being transparent about what they are planning for the game, they will give fans the kind of expectation they deserve for the remake.

Do you think Square Enix's decision to put Final Fantasy VII Remake on a multi-part series will deliver a better game? What do you think is the biggest setback if they try to squeeze it in just one game?
