Samsung Galaxy S5 Release Date, Price & Features: Android Phone Specs Leaked, Verizon Offers BOGO Pre-Order
With only a few days to go before the Samsung Galaxy S5 officially drops, Verizon has upped the ante (after stalling for the longest time) by offering their subscribers a "buy one, get one free" promotion. And, if that wasn't enough, some of the specs of the phone have reportedly been leaked.
First, let's talk about the specs. According to PC World, some of the features that we can expect to see on the phone include the following:
- a 16 megapixel rear-facing camera, which offers 4K video recording, phase detection autofocus (which can focus in around 0.3 seconds);
- a 2.5 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 system-on-chip with 2 GB of RAM;
- real-time HDR photos and video;
- Android 4.4.2 KitKat and Samsung's TouchWiz software, which has been given a more refined interface. Certain aspects of the changes were influenced by a recent patent licensing deal with Google, which requires that Samsung's TouchWiz interface follow the design of "stock" Android closer;
- 5.1-inch (130 mm) 1080p Super AMOLED panel screen, which is slightly larger than that of the S4.
Meanwhile, according to IntoMobile, if you happen to be a Verizon subscriber, you're in luck when it comes to the S5. With the purchase of a two-year contract, the phone will be $199.99, after a $50 mail-in rebate. In addition, after you send in the $50 mail-in rebate, you can also get a second S5 for free! If you qualify, you can upgrade your plan to the Verizon Edge, which will allow you to upgrade your phone sooner without any penalty.
"Customers who do so can add four smartphones to their MORE Everything plan and get 10GB of shared data for just $160 a month," IntoMobile reports. "Verizon is showing an April 11th ship date for the Galaxy S5, which is just a short week away."
Off-contract, you can purchase the phone for $600.
