This takes online shopping to the next level -- now, you can easily go grocery shopping just sitting at home, using Dash, a new handheld device that scans barcodes of items that are running low in your fridge and uses voice commands to order them.

The black-and-white device connects to a smartphone or laptop via Bluetooth, and has a built-in barcode scanner and microphone. Customers can simply scan whatever they need and use voice commands to add goods to their shopping list. Each scanned or spoken item is automatically added to their basket, all ready to be checked out.

It is a free device, however only works with Amazon Fresh, which is only currently available in Southern California, San Francisco and certain areas in Seattle. In addition to groceries, Amazon Fresh sells a total of 500,000 items including electronics, household tools, software games and entertainment.

The Dash tool complements Amazon's Flow app that launched in February. Flow helps people learn information about the items around them. For instance, when a user holds the phone's camera over an object, the app will accurately identify what it is, and give more information about the product, whether it may be the author, release date, or calories of food. Once an item has been identified, it can be shared on social networking websites or can be bought directly from Amazon. It also enables users to scan and dial phone numbers of launch websites from magazines, adverts or posters.
