There have been rumors going around suggesting the upcoming Samsung Galaxy A9 will sport a 5.5-inch screen. Now, a new tip from China claims the smartphone's real display size will be slightly larger than what was previously talked about.

Images of the alleged Galaxy A9 was recently posted on the Weibo account of Samsung China. Per translation from GeekSnipper, the promotional ad revealed a six-inch Super AMOLED screen carrying a 1920 x 1080 resolution display.

Qualcomm's Snapdragon 620 chipset is under the hood plus 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage and a 4,000 mAh battery. There's a 13-megapixel camera at the back and an eight-megapixel snapper at the front. The Galaxy A9 will reportedly feature a fingerprint scanner capable of performing Samsung Pay transactions.

It is said that the A9 will be launched later this month, or sometime in January 2016. Whatever its actual release may be, the phablet will first release in China, costing around $450. The smartphone will probably boot Android Lollipop straight out the box, and then become eligible for the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update in the future.

Needless to say, the Galaxy A9 is part of Samsung's new Galaxy A roster which the company expects to make a huge splash in 2016. The next-gen Galaxy A7, A5 and A3 were made official just this month.

The A7 (2016) has a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED Full HD display, an eight-core processor running Android 5.1, 3GB of RAM, 16GB of expandable storage space, and a 3,300mAh battery with Fast Charging technology. Both its 13-megapixel back camera and five-megapixel selfie shooter has an f/1.9 aperture lens, like the camera combo on the Galaxy S6.

The smartphone features a fingerprint sensor that supports Magnetic Secure Transmission, which duplicates the magnetic strip on payment cards. Potential buyers also have the option of picking up a dual-SIM model of the A7.

PhoneArena noted that the A5 (2016) packs the same aforementioned hardware specs, but sports a slightly smaller 5.2-inch screen and a lower capacity 2,900 mAh battery.

The A3 (2016) has the same camera combo as its siblings though the similarities end there. The new A3 flaunts a 4.7-inch screen with a quad-core Exynos processor, 1.5GB of RAM, 16GB of internal memory and a 2,300mAh battery. Unlike its siblings, the A3 does not feature a fingerprint sensor.

While in the subject of Samsung's Galaxy A series, folks in Japan should be glad to know that a new and improved version of the Galaxy A8 has been revealed in the country just a few days back.

GSMArena clarified that the smartphone isn't a sequel to the A8 but rather an updated model. It has a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED screen, Samsung's Exynos 5433 chipset on board, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of native storage and a 3,050 mAh battery. Android 5.0.1 is pre-installed.
