Michelle Obama Buying President Workout Gear for Christmas, Giving Sasha and Malia Cash
First Lady Michelle Obama let the cat out of the bag when she was asked about the gifts she plans to give her family for Christmas.
During a visit to a holiday event at the Children's National Health System on Monday, a patient asked Mrs. Obama what she was getting her husband, President Barack Obama, for Christmas.
In response, she said, "All right, press, don't tell him. He's going to get some workout stuff. It's not going to be very interesting this year, honey. Sorry," People reports.
The first lady then flipped the question on the children, asking one child for suggestions on what she should buy the president. They replied, saying ties.
"More ties?" Obama laughed. "Ties for you, babe."
Apparently, the first daughters, Malia and Sasha Obama, should not expect to receive an exciting gift from Michelle either. According to FLOTUS, the teenagers just want cash to buy their own gifts, along with their must-have holiday dish: mac and cheese.
"They're teenagers," first lady Michelle Obama told at the pediatric hospital in Washington. "It will be some version of [money]. They don't want me to waste my energy picking out stuff they don't want. So they'd rather just have the money."
The family pets, Bo and Sunny, can expect to receive special treats and toys for the holiday.
"They get lots of new toys and treats. They get presents every year," she said. "They were very nice [this year]. They have been very good dogs. I mean, Sunny sometimes can be naughty."
"Because you know what she does sometimes? She leaves the kitchen and she'll sneak, and she'll go poop on the other end of the White House," she said laughing.
Obama's visit to the hospital was part of a long Christmas tradition that began in the 1950s where first ladies pay a visit, reports The Chicago Tribune.
