WWE 'SmackDown' Spoilers, Results for Dec 17, 2015: New WWE Champion Roman Reigns Opens Show
"WWE SmackDown" opened its latest taping with the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns.
Now two-time champion, Reigns appeared in the ring to talk about his delight in winning the title during the main event of "Monday Night Raw," which also coincided with his daughter's birthday. Former champion Sheamus interrupted and said there's an investigation on Reigns, which could affect his title reign. Sheamus bright security guards to remove Reigns from the building, but Reigns fought them. The first segment ends.
The first match of the night was United States Champion Alberto Del Rio vs. Ryback in a non-title match. Del Rio's League of Nations members Rusev and King Barrett interfered, which gave Del Rio the opportunity to apply his armbar submission for the win. After the match, the League continued to beat down Ryback.
Backstage, Tyler Breeze and Summer Rae had a segment against Titus O'Neil. Goldust appeared and bothered Summer and Breeze. This segment continued as Breeze fought O'Neil. Goldust suddenly entered Summer's ringside VIP section, which distracted Breeze. O'Neil would get the win.
Backstage again, new Intercontinental Champion Dean Ambrose was interviewed and spoke about former champion Kevin Owens.
WWE Tag Team Champions The New Day, specifically Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods, competed in a non-title match against The Lucha Dragons. Big E was at ringside and tried to interfere. Kalisto secured the roll-up pin on Kingston for the victory.
Backstage, Dolph Ziggler has an interviewed, and he also speaks about Owens.
Becky Lynch defeated Brie Bella following interference from WWE Divas Champion Charlotte tripping the Bella twin. Team BAD was sitting behind the announcers during the match.
In the main event, Ziggler defeated Owens via disqualification. The two men had a good match but ended when Owens tossed Ziggler on the announce table. Owens and Ziggler continued to brawl despite the referee stoppage. Ambrose later appeared to fight Owens, which also saw Ziggler superkick Ambrose. The show ends with Owens laughing at Ambrose and Ziggler.
