They played two of the most important characters in the cult favorite "The Matrix" trilogy and now Keanu Reeves and Laurence Fishburne are reuniting to create some movie magic again for "John Wick 2." The action thriller is already hyped up as a follow-up to the well-received "John Wick."

According to a report from Gothamist, several people have spotted Fishburne on the set of the upcoming movie with his former (and present) co-star Reeves. It's a surprise even to those who have been following the production closely as the actor hasn't been revealed as part of the cast.

It's unknown what Fishburne's role in the thrilling sequel is, or whether his appearance will be more than a quick cameo, but "The Matrix" fans are already imagining Neo and Morpheus back together on the big screen.

"John Wick" was an exciting vengeance thriller that revolved around a retired hitman who was spurred into action after some mob members steal his car and kill his beloved dog that was gifted to him by his deceased wife.

There hasn't been an official confirmation on the highly anticipated sequel's storyline, but Reeves gave some hints on the themes of the film during an interview with Collider back in October.

"I think we have a really good premise, and it's an organic premise," the actor revealed. "It's basically -- to me there's John Wick and then there's John. You know, John is the married guy whose wife just died, and that five years of his life. Then there's John Wick, who's the mythical assassin. In this, John Wick's past comes and infiltrates John's life and John Wick, in a way, has to fight for John."

It seems as if the film's anti-hero will be grappling with his identity for "John Wick 2." Those who are worried a second film will spoil the experience of the first, Reeves assured the creators are aware of the different elements that worked from the original movie.

He explained, "Chad and the writer, Derek Kolstad, they've really listened to what people have enjoyed about the work and how they speak about it. So there's definitely that influence of the other world, the Continental world, the look, the feel, what it is about the movie, what made people like it; is definitely being paid attention to and the world opens up in this chapter."

The Hollywood A-lister seems to be enjoying his time shooting "John Wick 2" as he also recently posted a bloodied up behind-the-scenes photo of himself on Twitter.
