E!'s "Fashion Police" will be starting off the new year with a familiar face on the panel. The fashion critique series has finally selected a new co-host, and it's none other than comedian Margaret Cho.

The network announced on Thursday, Dec. 17 that Cho would be coming aboard as a special co-host for the show in 2016. She will be commenting on looks on the red carpet alongside Melissa Rivers, Giuliana Rancic and Brad Goreski.

Cho won't be out of her element when it comes to hosting, as she's served as a co-host on "Fashion Police" numerous times in the past.

"I love joining the crew of 'Fashion Police.' To me it feels like family," Cho said in a statement.

"Although I am not quite a fashionista, I would love to look at it like I am changing it up -- 'Fashion Police: Special Victims Unit.' It makes me happiest to spend time with Melissa, and when I see her laugh at my jokes, I feel like Joan is smiling, somewhere."

Cho's spin on fashion could fill the comedic void left when Joan Rivers passed away in 2010. Rivers spearheaded the show by taking comedic jabs at celebrities when necessary and praising their fashion choices when it called for it. No one can fill Joan's shoes, but Cho's wit will definitely spice up the panel.

Comedian Kathy Griffin briefly joined the "Fashion Police" panel last year, but she resigned, citing the program didn't fit with her style of humor. The show was hit with another roadblock last year when longtime panelist Kelly Osbourne quit because of behind-the-scenes differences with Rancic and because of the Zendaya Coleman fiasco.

Cho will be a panelist on "Fashion Police" for 2016, but no long-term plans to have her on past that have been made.

The comedian's first co-host gig with the show will be red carpet fashion coverage for the Golden Globe Awards on Monday, Jan. 11, 2016 at 8 p.m. ET on E!
