"Friends" fans will have to keep dreaming about a real life Chandler and Monica hook-up a little while longer. On Thursday, various news outlets were reporting that Courteney Cox and Matthew Perry had taken their on screen love affair and turned it into a reality.

News of their pairing comes just weeks after Cox ended her year-long engagement to Snow Patrol guitarist Johnny McDaid. Perry hasn't been romantically linked to anyone since he split from then-girlfriend, Lizzy Caplan in 2012.

According to a report, after Cox's engagement to McDaid ended earlier this month, she allegedly turned to her former television husband for support.

Perry and Cox's supposed pairing spread like wildfire and Twitter exploded with a series of tweets from fans commenting on how happy they were to hear that the pair could potentially be an item.

However, E! News confirms that the rumor is simply not true. Though Perry and Cox have remained good friends following the end of their hit 90s show, romance is not in the air for these two. In fact, Cox guest-starred on Perry's show, "Go On," in 2013 and the actor returned the favor by appearing on her show, "Cougar Town" the following year. Neither Cox nor Perry have commented on the rumor. Perry, however, did take advantage of all the attention he was getting by promoting his show, "The Odd Couple" on Twitter this morning.
