Sofia Vergara's Son Partners With Fusion to Create Snapchat Series About His Mom
Actress Sofia Vergara is the focus of a Snapchat series created by her son Manolo Gonzalez Vergara, in a partnership with Fusion.
"Vergaraland," the name of the series, shares personal videos and images that follow the actress's rise to fame from a model in Colombia to the internationally known actress she is today, according to the Los Angeles Times.
"Sofia Vergara is undoubtedly one of the most successful television actresses today, and she is also an incredible business woman, entrepreneur and loving mother," said Fusion CEO Isaac Lee
On Dec. 14, the first three episodes of the six-part series debuted on TV network Fusion's channel on Snapchat Discover.
For Snapchat, Fusion creates news updates, called "News in a Snap," and shares content in several languages including Spanish Portuguese and French.
Snapchat Discover is a feature on Snapchat that advertises several companies to millions of users on the social media platform without the need of followers.
Gonzalez Vergara, who graduated from Emerson College, made the six episodes several months ago and shortened them to be 3 minutes or less.
The 23-year-old, who is popular for his humor on Instagram, uses his charm and outspoken persona to narrate the videos. Vergara barely talks in the episodes.
In the already released videos, Gonzalez Vergara complains about his mother's lack of Emmy wins and praises her career.
He also touches on her ability to preserve her Latino culture, which the actress has done by refusing to lose her accent or change her name, but also learning how to navigate through Hollywood.
While the series is about her, Vergara has let her son take credit for the project but shared her support in a statement, reported Variety.
"Manolo finally graduated, and I am very happy for his alliance with Fusion to create such an innovative series," she said.
