Oprah Winfrey Buys $14 Million Ski Mansion in Colorado
Entertainment mogul Oprah Winfrey added a new gem to her collection of houses when she spent around $14 million on a giant, high-tech property in the Mountain Village section of Telluride, Colorado.
The newly bought home is a fully furnished contemporary mansion that measures about 8,700 square feet and sits on roughly 3.23 acres. The three-story residence is designed with an avalanche of high-tech appliances and luxurious amenities, as stated in Variety. It has been perfectly situated in a mountainous environment, with contemporary lines, wonderfully clean, and beautifully designed interior built by businessman Bob Wall.
This state-of-the-art masterpiece has so many highlights. One of which is the heated motor court and driveway that keep its warmth even during the snowiest of conditions. It also has an unusual comprehensive home automation system which can be manipulated by smart phone from anywhere around the globe. The system can operate around 40 miles of wirings that control the window coverings, heating and cooling of the place, security systems, and fertilization and watering of indoor plants.
Primary living spaces include a formal double-height living room with wood burning fireplace, and sky-lit kitchen. It also has this family room that quickly converts to screening room with the monitor that slowly drops down from the ceiling.
The place also has this tempered glass bridge composed of integrated fiber optic that has an installation cost of about $150,000. And a $70,000 jetted tub that automatically circulates water through a heating panel that controls and maintain water temperature during the entire bath.
The new mansion also has this special wine cellar which is far more beautiful and luxurious than what other rich people have. As described in the business website, Forbes, It is designed as a wine tunnel decked out like a mining shaft completed with lantern light fixtures, rugged wood beams, and a sound system. The effects of dripping water and cricking timber make this part of the mansion more realistic.
Other gems that are included in Oprah's real estate collection include a penthouse in downtown Chicago atop the Water Tower Place Complex which she has owned for decades. Her 23,000-square-foot neo-Georgian mansion in a 42-acre landscape estate located in high-toned Montecito, California, is also included in the list. She purchased it in 2001 for about $50 million. Aside from that, she also owned an 800-acre working farm near Kula on the Hawaiian Island of Maui which was acquired in 2003 for an estimated cost of $44 million.
