CBS's hit superhero series, "Supergirl," will be adding a few more powerful females to its lineup when the show returns for the rest of Season 1.

According to ComicBook, during a Q&A with reporters, executive producer Ali Adler revealed that the series is planning to introduce a few more female superheros, as well as villains, during Season 1.

"We're actually doing that now in our backorder from CBS, so we're actually working on that right now. There might be a little twist to that too," Adler said when asked if Supergirl would interact with new female characters.

The series stars Melissa Benoist as Kara, aka Supergirl, and already hosts a few strong, powerful women, like Kara's sister Alex (Chyler Leigh), her boss Cat Grant (Calista Flockhart) and Lucy Lane (Jenna Dewan-Tatum).

There are already a few reports about who these future heroes and villains may be. According to The Mary Sue, actress Emma Caulfield is reportedly joining the cast as Cameron Chase.

Chase is a law enforcement professional who has been fighting crime since her father was murdered.

"Now a stern, no holds barred FBI agent, Chase's weapons of choice are manipulation and manpower. With little sympathy, and plenty of suspicions, she pursues her targets with ruthless determination," the character description reads.

During a recent discussion on Kevin Smith's podcast "Fat Man on Batman,"  executive producer Andrew Kreisberg revealed that the show will also be introducing a Bizarro character.

Speculation indicates that it may be Bizarro-Girl, who hails from Htrae, also known as Bizarro World. The character has similar powers to Supergirl, but uses them to terrorize National City.

Another possible superhero may be Dewan-Tatum's Lucy Lane, who may just eventually become Superwoman. Whether this will happen in Season 1 or in later seasons remains to be seen.

Also recently announced by CBS was the casting of "Chasing Life" actress Italia Ricci as villain Silver Banshee.

According to TVLine, the synopsis released by CBS for Episode 9, titled "Blood Bonds," reads as follows:

"With Astra in captivity at the DEO, her husband, Non (guest star Chris Vance), captures Hank, leading to a tense standoff between the two sides. Also, Kara continues to refute Cat's allegations that she is Supergirl."

"Supergirl" Episode 9 will air on Monday, Jan. 4, at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
