HTC One M10 Specs & Release Date: Rumored 5-Inch High-End Smartphone to Have Fingerprint Sensor, Stereo Speakers?
There's still no definitive word about the rumored HTC One M10, but if the latest roundup is to be believed, the 2016 smartphone will feature an updated HTC design, fingerprint scanning technology and stereo speakers, among others.
The HTC One M9 received a considerable amount of criticism earlier this year for looking much like its predecessors. It is safe to assume the Taiwan-based mobile maker will finally advance the line's design philosophy with the One M10.
PhoneArena speculated that the One M10 will most likely sport a metal frame since HTC was among the first Android OEMs to outfit its high-end flagships with the material. There's also a slight chance the company will use a glass back for the One M10, like the ones fitted on the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Sony Xperia Z5.
Considering HTC has already debuted fingerprint scanning technology with the One A9, it can be assumed that the One M10 will have one as well. The sensor will probably be fitted on the back of the device as high-quality stereo speakers are set to occupy the front.
HTC has equipped its recent line of smartphones with front-firing BoomSound stereo speakers and it has showed no signs of slowing down. On the contrary, the sound technology was even refined with the One M9.
Per TechRadar, HTC's current-gen flagship includes Dolby support on top of its BoomSound stereo speakers. The virtual surround sound can be heard with or without headphones. The feature can be set in music or theatre mode, but sound quality is a tad bit better while headphones are on.
The One M10 will likely have a five-inch screen with 1440 x 2560 QHD resolution display. That said, there have been no reports on HTC testing out AMOLED screens, so there's still no indication the company is moving away from LCD technology.
In the camera department, the One M10 is sure to retain if not slightly update its predecessor's 20- and five-megapixel cameras. Although, many owners were disappointed with the One M9's performance in low light.
On the other hand, the mid-range One A9 flaunted a 13-megapixel back camera which captured better stills than the One M9. If HTC took notice of the positive feedback, the One M10 might just end up with a 13-megapixel rear-facing unit and a five-megapixel selfie shooter, but that's mere speculation at this point.
Android 6.0 Marshmallow is being eyed as the device's built-in OS while the chipset on board is said to be Qualcomm's brand-new Snapdragon 820.
SD 820 houses a quad-core CPU with 64-bit Kryo cores clocked at 2.2 GHz and the Adreno 530 GPU. The CPU runs twice as fast as the one fitted on SD 810, while graphics performance is improved by as much as 40 percent, GSMArena reported.
