Becky G finally spoke about why she and ex-boyfriend Austin Mahone split up back in August.

The pop singer appeared on the cover of Seventeen's new prom issue. In the exclusive interview, she revealed why she split from Mahone, with whom she recently released new music.

The singer shared a few photos from the photo shoot, where she modeled a variety of prom dresses by Blush Prom, on her Instagram account.

"It was really hard because we were very open about how happy we were," she said of her relationship with Mahone. "It was only fair for me to set the story straight after we broke up."

The singer went on to explain that there was no drama involved in their split and no one was to blame. She even complimented her ex.

"I was with someone who was really amazing and inspiring, and everything was right about us except the timing," she added. "We had so many dreams and aspirations before we started dating and you can't forget those. Honestly, it sucked really bad, but he's so awesome and there's no bad blood."

Becky G and Mahone broke up in August, after dating for a few months, reported E! Online. During their courtship, Mahone appeared in the singer's music video for her song "Lovin' So Hard" as her love interest.

The couple never discussed the split publicly, but Becky G went on Twitter to reassure her fans that she was doing well after the news broke.

"Guys I'm fine! I'm happy! I'm going on TOUR!! It's just stressful. But I promise I'm good. Love you guys." she tweeted on Aug. 10.

Mahone also shared a cryptic message after the split, tweeting, "You will always mean the world to me."
