‘Dazed and Confused’ Sequel ‘Everybody Wants Some’ Releases Trailer [Watch]
For those who grew up in the '90s idolizing "Dazed and Confused," writer/director Richard Linklater has brought out a new addition to the franchise with the film "Everybody Wants Some." There has also been a new trailer released for the film and it is exciting to say the least.
According to Variety, the film hails from the Academy Award nominee Linklater, who also wrote and directed the 1993 classic "Dazed."
Although it does not come right out and say it, the film is being held by many as a sequel to the cult hit that gained quite a following after its home video release.
With the same theme as "Dazed," the film goes into the future and features a group of college baseball players in the early '80s who are on the verge of greatness, besides their newfound freedoms and debauchery.
The trailer features many key elements of its predecessor that has set the stage for the young life and how they like to party. It is a throwback to the era with many of the pop-themed trends that inspired youth of all ages to act out in promiscuous ways.
That means it features a lot of booze, pot, youth rituals and sexually charged scenes that fans are sure to love and laugh at.
The film's title, "Everybody Wants Some," plays off the early hit song by Van Halen that was so popular during that era. The trailer opened up on the song by The Knacks, "My Sharona." But it quickly segued over to the titular song by Van Halen that supercharged the teaser preview and featured some of the quirkiest and most era-centric comedy of the time.
"Dazed" featured somewhat unknown actors at the time who went on to later successes. Those included Matthew McConaughey, Jason London, Ben Affleck and Parker Posey.
This film follows the same recipe and stars Blake Jenner, Ryan Guzman, Tyler Hoechlin, Wyatt Russell, Glen Powell, Will Brittain and Zoey Deutch.
