'Real Housewives of Atlanta,' Sheree Whitfield News: Reality Star Sued for Nonpayment on Chateau Construction
"Real Housewives of Atlanta" star Sheree Whitfield has been slapped with a $23,000 suit, alleging nonpayment of bills on the construction of her home, Chateau Sheree.
According to Radar Online, the 45-year-old "Real Housewives of Atlanta" star is reported to owe $15,450 in arrears on the project, with the additional balance of $7,550 attributed to late fees and other charges.
Whitfield has been in the process of building the home for nearly four years, and in related documents, Stoploss Specialists Inc. contends they were contracted "to supply equipment, labor and/or materials for the improvement" of the property in December 2014.
OK Magazine reports Whitfield initially began construction on the project sometime in 2011. Though she recently publicly boasted that the project is nearly complete, she has not commented in the wake of the legal actions taken against her.
Despite the project now nearly being five years old, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution recently reported that it remains far from complete, after Whitfield was dumped from the cast of "Real Housewives."
During a 2013 appearance on the the "Iyanla Fix My Life" show, life coach Iyanla Vanzant pointed to the unfinished construction as a metaphor for Whitfield's life being stuck in a rut.
Whitfield returned to "Real Housewives" this season, and almost since the opening scene, she has been at war with fellow cast mate Kenya Moore.
Stoploss Specialists, which bills itself as an "emergency response contractor," formally filed suit against Whitfield in Fulton County Superior Court on Dec. 17, 2014.
In a post on her Bravo blog, Whitfield noted that she "took on an enormous project with my family and clearly got in way over my head."
Whitfield was previously married to former NFL star Bob Whitfield, before the two bitterly divorced.
