Kobe Bryant visited the Charlotte Hornets for the final time last Monday, and instead of career highlights, a different tribute video was shown. The Hornets' owner and NBA legend Michael Jordan gave a message to Bryant for an unbelievable career.

"I'm sorry I couldn't be there tonight. I just want to congratulate you on an unbelievable career. I'm very happy to leave you this message to say how much we are very proud of what you've accomplished over the years," Jordan first said as quoted by ESPN.

"I wish you the best and have a great game tonight. I want you to stay healthy. Just have fun. Take it a day at a time. Enjoy it. And I look forward to seeing what you do after this. Take care. Good luck," MJ added to finish the message.

However, Bryant did not have a great game as the Los Angeles Lakers lost to the Hornets 108-98. The 37-year-old scored 20 points in just 25 percent shooting and left the game with under a minute left and was greeted with "Kobe" chants from the Charlotte crowd.

"It was awesome. We talk pretty often. But it was interesting to see my teammates before the game. Julius Randle was like, 'That's amazing. That's Michael Jordan,'" Bryant said after the game.

In an earlier interview before his retirement announcement, the Lakers icon revealed that he talked to Yankees shortstop, Derek Jeter, and Jordan to get the insight on his decision. "The Black Mamba" has been long compared to Jordan and is considered by many as the second greatest shooting guard to ever play the game behind "His Airness."

Bryant is a five-time NBA Champion with the Lakers, the 2008 MVP, and a two-time Finals MVP, per Basketball Reference. He is also a 17-time All-Star, a four-time All-Star Game MVP, a two-time scoring champion, a 15-time All-NBA selection, a 12-time All-Defensive team and two-time Olympic Gold Medallist.

He has spent his entire career with the Lakers and is the franchise's all-time top scorer as well as third in the NBA's all-time scoring list. Kobe also scored 81 points, the second-most in a single game, last Jan. 22, 2006 in a game against the Toronto Raptors.

The Hornets originally drafted Bryant at only 17 years old in the 1996 NBA Draft as the 13th overall selection out of Lower Merion High School. He was immediately traded to the Lakers for center Vlade Divac with the deal being considered as one of the worst in NBA history.
