When we last mentioned the 2014 GLAAD awards, we discussed the strong Latino representation throughout various nominee categories.

Now that the show is over, we're proud to announce the Latino winners of the 25th Annual GLAAD awards that took home big wins and made us proud.

So what are the GLAAD awards and what do they celebrate? "The GLAAD Media Awards recognize and honor media for their fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community and the issues that affect their lives," says the GLAAD website.

Pop star and American Idol judge Jennifer Lopez took home one of the top honors of the night, the Vanguard Award. Lopez was praised for her work as an executive producer on the ABC Family drama, The Fosters. The Fosters plot centers around a lesbian couple raising their children. Legendary Puerto Rican performer Rita Moreno presented Lopez with the award which celebrates efforts in increasing visibility and understanding of the gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgender community.

"When the opportunity to produce the show first came my way, I asked myself, 'Do I do this or do I not do this?'" Lopez told the crowd. "Being in the media, being in the public eye, it's a bitch sometimes ... I knew that the show would be controversial because of the subject matter."

She continued, "El amor es el amor. The world is changing and that's because love is stronger than hate. It's been proven many times tonight."

The Fosters also won the award for outstanding drama series.

Other Latino winners of the night include Natalia: rompiendo barreras for the Outstanding Local TV Journalism award, Decision Historica for the Outstanding TV Journalism Segment award, Eric y Juan, un matrimonio feliz a pesar de todo for the Outstanding Digital Journalism award, and a tie between Debate por la igualdad and Decision Historica for the Outstanding Local TV Journalism award.

Congratulations to the event's honorees including Norman Lear for the Pioneer Award and Orange Is the New Black's Laverne Cox for the Stephen F. Kolzak Award. Well deserved.

Additional awards will be presented at the GLAAD NYC event on May 3. What were favorite wins of the night?
