Last night, the MTV Movie Awards were handed out in Los Angeles at the Nokia Theatre. Like its Video Music Awards sister show, it was designed by MTV to "mock" traditional awards shows, but has become a formidable awards show in itself. With Conan O'Brien as the host of the affair, actors and actresses were honored for their achievements in film... albeit in a tongue-in-cheek sort of way.

According to USA Today, there were some usual suspects were nominated -- and won -- various awards.

Jared Leto, who took home an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Dallas Buyers Club, was honored for "Best On-Screen Transformation." Meanwhile, Brad Pitt was honored with a "Best Scared as S--t" award for his role in World War Z (beating out Rose Byrne for Insidious: Chapter 2, Jessica Chastain for Mama, Vera Farmiga in The Conjuring, and Ethan Hawke in The Purge). Mila Kunis and her belly full of Ashton Kutcher fetus took home "Best Villain" for her role in Oz The Great and Powerful, and Henry Cavill's adaptation of the Man of Steel earned him the "Best Hero" Award.

Perez Hilton, meanwhile, took special interest in the presenting duties of the various celebrities.

Whereas most awards shows have stodgy, stiff presenters (take it from someone who, for this outlet, sat through seemingly endless hours of droning during the Oscars; the "Adele Dazeem" moment by John Travolta was the sole highlight of the night), the MTV Movie Awards show the presenters in a lighter, more "natural" light.

Seth MacFarlane did a good job hosting the Oscars two years ago, but who was excoriated by the media for his light-hearted behavior since the Oscars are a supposed to be "serious" affair comparable to ceremonies for the Nobel Peace Prize and the Presidential Medal of Honor. The Family Guy creator was better suited for the environment of the MTV Movie Awards. He even quipped that it was "going as well as the Oscars" at one point.
