The Indianapolis Colts were one of the favorites to win the Super Bowl coming into the season, but the offense faltered and the injury to star quarterback Andrew Luck did not help. The Colts are currently holding a 7-8 record heading into the final week of the regular season and head Chuck Pagano is reportedly not returning to the team next year.

According to SportsCenter, the Colts are not planning to re-sign Pagano next season if he the team won't qualify this postseason. Indianapolis is in second place in the AFC South behind the Houston Texans and technically the Colts are still in the playoff race.

In a detailed report by FOX Sports, the Colts need ten results in order to make it to the postseason and save Pagano's job. The first step was for the Denver Broncos to defeat the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday and it happened, leaving Indianapolis with nine more outcomes to hope for.

Here is the list of results that need to happen in order for the Colts to qualify for the playoffs:

  • The Colts defeat the Tennessee Titans at home on Sunday.
  • The Atlanta Falcons win over the visiting New Orleans Saints.
  • The Cleveland Browns lose to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
  • The Buffalo Bills defeat the New York Jets.
  • The Houston Texans lose to the Jacksonville Jaguars.
  • The Baltimore Ravens win over the Cincinnati Bengals.
  • The New England Patriots lose to the Miami Dolphins.
  • The Denver Broncos defeat the San Diego Chargers.
  • The Oakland Raiders win over the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Colts do not have the best chance to make it to the postseason, but stranger things have happened in sports. To make matters worse, Andrew Luck will miss his ninth game of the season as he has been ruled out of the season finale due to a lacerated kidney suffered on Nov. 8 against the Broncos.

Pagano was named head coach by Indianapolis in 2012, leading the Colts to an 11-5 record a trip to the playoffs, losing in the AFC Wild Card game against the Ravens. He won the same number of the games the next two seasons and advancing further into the postseason each year, losing to the New England Patriots in last season's AFC Championship game.

He turned down a one-year extension to start the season, per ESPN and it appears that he will be coaching his final game with the Colts on Sunday. However, team owner Jim Irsay told the Toronto Sun that he has not made a decision regarding next season's head coach.

"As of today, no decision has been made with respect to any structural changes within the Colts organization for 2016 and beyond," Irsay said.
