Robbie Lawler vs Carlos Condit: UFC 195 Preview, Live Stream, Where to Watch & Predictions
Ultimate Fighting Championship welterweight champion Robbie Lawler will defend his title against Carlos Condit at UFC 195 on Saturday night at MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Lawler, who has a 26-10 record, will be making the second defense of his welterweight title, which he won in December 2014, when he escaped with a split decision win against Johny Hendricks. The 33-year-old successfully defended his title against Rory MacDonald in July via a fifth-round knockout victory.
Lawler said that he is ready to defend his title against Condit and the American Top Team fighter is not feeling any pressure because he is focused on what he will do and not on what his challenger will bring to the table on Saturday.
"I could see how the list of challengers could become motivation for a champion, but what I'm focusing on is me," Lawler told reporters via ESPN. "I don't necessarily worry about who I'm fighting or what's on the line. I know Carlos is going to be gearing up to get me, but what I'm gearing up for is being the best I've been."
On the other hand, Condit, who owns a 30-8 record, declared that he is prepared to stand toe-to-toe against Lawler. The 31-year-old welterweight contender said that he is expecting a violent showdown against the reigning champion.
"The consensus I'm getting is that this fight is going to be an amazing display of mixed martial arts ability and violence," Condit said. "I feel like that's one of the reasons I, personally, have a fan following. I'm not super polished. Things don't always go my way in the cage. But no matter what, I'm trying to finish."
Prediction
Condit is expected to give Lawler another tough night similar to what MacDonald did in July before he was knocked out in the final round. But in the end, Lawler will keep his title and will prepare for his next title defense -- probably against Georges St-Pierre. Lawler by decision.
