CES 2016: HTC, Under Armour Offer Healthbox of Connected Fitness Devices
Under Armour and HTC are getting together to help users keep their fitness goals in 2016. The Healthbox from the two companies will have Under Armour branding all over it, but HTC is certainly helping out.
The Healthbox will include three items: a fitness tracker, a smart scale and a heart rate monitor chest strap, TechRadar reports.
All three of the items included in the Healthbox will report their statistics back to the UA Record app from Under Armour, a free app for Apple iOS and Google Android.
The first item included in the Healthbox is the UA Band fitness tracker. This tracker replaces the HTC Grip. The UA Band tracks sleep and heart rate, and it will also keep track of a user's steps throughout the day. Sold separately, the UA Band retails for $180.
The next item included in the Healthbox is the UA Scale, a smart scale that will learn things about users as they step on it more often. The UA Scale is also connected to the UA Record app. It will greet users by name, and keep track of body fat percentage and weight targets. Sold separately, the UA Scale retails for $180.
The final item included in the Healthbox is the heart rate monitor. This chest strap will provide a more accurate heart rate reading than the UA Band. The reports it obtains from the user will be tracked in the UA Record app. Sold separately, the heart rate monitor retails for $80.
The UA Record app focuses on four areas of the user's life: activity, nutrition, sleep and fitness. Users can click on each quadrant to see what they need to focus on more.
Everyday, the UA Record app will ask users how they feel. Based on their answers, the UA Record will recommend ways to help them feel better, like more sleep or more exercise.
The Healthbox from HTC and Under Armour will cost $400. It is currently available for pre-order, with an official release on Jan. 22 in the U.S.
