This year's Easter falls on April 20 and, as expected, the spring holiday means fun family and community celebrations of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Modern times have made this holiday quite commercial but nevertheless, there is no reason why families should not spend the day having quality time with loved ones and feasting on special Easter recipes. Other fun ideas include enjoying Easter crafts that kids and the young at heart will surely love.

Most recipes for Easter are prepared for brunch, eaten after hearing mass in the morning. Egg is the leading ingredient which allows you to make main dishes, pastries and desserts. For brunch, you can try a Cheesy Sausage and Egg bake. This is a baked recipe consisting of mushrooms, sausage, onions, tomatoes and cheese. These five ingredients will be layered in a baking dish and then topped with a blended mixture of milk, salt, oregano leaves, pepper, eggs and biscuit mix. It gets baked until golden brown and then it's ready to serve. Children will, of course, also love to eat Easter bunny cupcakes or chocolate Easter eggs, which make great snacks and desserts. Ask them to help you prepare it for some hands-on fun.

Easter is made colorful by fun crafts you can do with the kids. Classic activities are painting hard-boiled eggs which they will find during an egg hunt, or you can make small egg bunny baskets they will use to store eggs in. These can be made from used Pringles cans. Prepare the materials such as pencils, crayons, glue, scissors, paint and pipe cleaners for the handle. The recyclable material can be painted and drawn to look like a bunny. You can add ears by shaping it from card and glued it on to the sides. Then attach the pipe cleaners to serve as a handle.

Aside from traditional Easter egg hunting, plan some parlor games and prepare small prizes. You can also have an egg-decorating contest where kids will each decorate an egg and the best one wins. Serve Easter cupcakes and other prepared snacks to guarantee a good time!
