A Texas grocery store manager is now looking for a new job after tackling a shoplifter who was wielding a knife.

The whole incident occurred in the parking lot of a Kroger store in Arlington, Texas. The manager was able to slam the shoplifter into a car, get the knife away from the man and then slam him to the ground.

It was all captured on cellphone video by someone sitting in their car in the parking lot.

But, instead of being labeled a hero, the store manager was fired by Kroger.

In a statement to FOX4 of Dallas-Fort Worth, Kroger said the manager's actions were "not a reflection of our company's fraud prevention protocol, procedures or training."

The shoplifter, Claude Medlock, 51, had a long history of crime, including past thefts and robberies according to police.

While it's true that many retail companies have a "hands-off" policy when confronted with shoplifters, the Kroger manager thought what he did was right. Additionally, police don't consider his actions criminal.

The manager had 13 years of experience in loss prevention.

Already, angry customers have taken to Facebook to protest Kroger's decision to fire the manager.
