Anahí Responds to Critics Over Career, Role as First Lady [Watch]
On Jan. 8, pop singer Anahí used social media to respond to those criticizing her for not dedicating enough time to her career since becoming the first lady of Chiapas.
The star posted a photo from a photoshoot on Instagram, along with a long message.
In the caption, the singer, who married Manuel Velasco Coello, the governor of Chiapas, defended herself against those claiming she has disregarded her career.
"I have learned that in life you have to act always with love. And not to let ourselves be provoked by people who, when they talk, only expose the sadness in their soul," she wrote. "You guys in every moment of my life are present. We have always been and will be together. Because when something is from the heart nothing can destroy it."
The 32-year-old went on to explain that she would love to do more for her music, and that she loves her job and fans. Yet, she explained that she has other responsibilities, which require her attention.
"Yes I have changed, but today I feel much closer to the person I would like to be someday. I send you all my love! And I hope that soon we will have a new video and the album completed," she added.
Since marrying Coello in 2015, Anahí has participated in a variety of community efforts and attended a variety of events with her politician husband.
According People en Español, the singer was recently photographed visiting The Center for Community Development in Tuxtla Gutiérrez, where she spent time with single mothers from the area and their children.
The star has documented several of her visits with a variety of charitable organizations, community centers and schools in Chiapas on her Instagram account.
Regardless of what her critics say, the Mexican singer hasn't completely put her career on the back burner.
In the last six months, the singer released her single "Rumba," performed at the 2015 Premios Juventud with rapper Wisin, and premiered the music video for her single "Boom Cha" on Dec. 11, 2015.
Her upcoming album, titled "Amnesia," is expected out later this year. Check out Anahí's video for "Boom Cha" below.
